I am an ‘out-of-network’ provider, which means if your insurance company offers out-of-network benefits, you should receive some form of reimbursement for the cost of therapy.  Many insurance companies that provide out-of-network benefits cover between 50%-75% of the cost per session.

Please contact your insurance company to find out about your specific coverage. Also, clients can pay out-of-pocket with Paypal or use their Health Savings (HSA) or Flexible Spending (FSA) Account that can be linked to Paypal depending on the HSA company.  Insurance companies are not billed directly as CHC is an out-of-network provider.

If you’d like to see if your insurance will fully reimburse or cover a portion of your sessions, please contact your carrier in order to verify what your plan includes . If they do cover out-of-network services, a superbill with necessary codes will be submitted to you for you to submit to your insurance directly for reimbursement. Here are some helpful questions to ask your insurance company to learn how much they will cover:

  • What is my co-insurance or copay for out-of-network sessions?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible and has it been met?
  • What is my out-of-pocket max and has it been met?
  • How many sessions does my plan cover per year?
  • What is the out-of-network allowed amount per inividual therapy session (CPT code 90834) or couple/family therapy session? (CPT code 90847)

Sessions are typically 90 minutes for couples, and families and can be split when seeing partners individually.  This does include scheduling and fee collection done at the onset of the session.

According to extensive research on EFT, weekly sessions are recommended when starting therapy. This does provide a better overall outcome. There are occasions when biweekly sessions are necessary to help stabilize your situation and functioning.  We will explore this together to determine what best suits you and your relationship and how this will affect our work together and our therapeutic goals.

This does depend on several factors and is also related to the reasons you sought out therapy to begin with.  Once there is a more clear understanding of what the challenges are, the duration of therapy can be better determined and will be further discussed during the initial assessment.

If there is an emergency and you need to reach out between sessions, you can email or text.  Please, note both these forms of communication are not secure or HIPAA compliant forms of communication.  It is recommended that text is used for scheduling and general communication.

You may call and leave a voicemail at the number provided and a return call will be made as soon as possible or within 24-48 hours.

If you are in danger, please call 911. If you are having a mental healthy crisis and are unable to reach me, please call 911 or go the your nearest emergency room.

Appointments must be cancelled a full 48 business hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time except in case of a true emergency or illness. If the appointment is cancelled less than 48 business hours, there will be a full fee charge. If  the partner or family member can meet during that same appointment instead, that will avoid a last minute cancellation fee. The partner or family member who missed the session will be seen later to balance this out.

Mostly adult couples and adult families of all races, cultures, sexual orientations, and religions affiliations. CHC aims to provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere to everyone, and honors the personal belief systems of each client.

  1. Zoom: Our sessions will be over HIPAA compliant and secure. Having the app downloaded prior to the session will help maximize our time together. Teams is also an option if there is a problem with Zoom.
  2. Internet: A WiFi internet connection is preferred. If WiFi is unavailable, a 4G or RG cellular connection is an option.
  3. Headphones: Headphones are not required but are highly recommended especially if others are nearby. The earphones and can be shared with the partners. This can also cut back on the feedback between your speaker and mic.
  4. A Blue Yeti microphone can really improve sound and reduce feedback and allow the therapist to hear you more closely.  Also, if you are using your phone, a tripod for the phone helps stabilize the camera.

Since we are fortunate to live in a time where technology allows us to meet from just about anywhere, on-line sessions have been found to be more effective from one’s own home.  Previously, there would be wonderful breakthrough moments in my office setting, but couples would fear they couldn’t do this at home.  Now, in the comfort of your own home, you can share breakthrough moments of connection together at home.

Because of the flexibility of on-line therapy, it can work with your schedule without the need for fighting traffic, finding parking etc. and can even reduce your stress in session.

CHC is licensed in Maryland, California, Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada.

There is potential legislation that could be passed in 2024 which would allow the opportunity for MFTS  to more easily see people from more even states beyond the states listed above.

Please leave an email message, voicemail or text with your name and number.  Your partner would also do the same, which lets me know you are both on the same page and want to move forward with therapy. After a brief 10-minute phone call with both partners to better understand your situation, you would be placed in the queue for individual phone consultation calls for each partner lasting one-half hour. These half-hour calls are built into the cost of the first session and help CHC better understand each of your ‘respective sides of the bridge.’

If you are ready to bridge the gap of disconnection and move towards a secure, loving, and fulfilling relationship, please contact CHC today.
